Property duo reunited to boost Blues Property Expansion

Cambridge residential property expert Mark Wood has left his role leading the New Homes Division of a national firm to work alongside longtime friend and industry colleague Ian Purkiss at Blues Property.

Mark, a Chartered Surveyor, joins the independent developer as Head of Land Acquisitions, calling on more than four decades working in agency across the city. Both he and Ian, who met at school in 1971, have enjoyed long and successful careers in parallel and now the time is right for them to bring together their shared insight and track record.

“It’s time for a new challenge,” said Mark. “I went straight into agency after school, joining Januarys in 1978 and later setting up Rooke, Wood and Miller before selling to New Square Holdings in 2009. We built that group offering into something attractive to a large national firm and the rest is history. But now I’m ready for something that brings all of that together, with the added dimension of seeking out off-market opportunities.”

Blues Property was set up in 2005 and has built a strong reputation for creating desirable, bespoke homes in prime locations in Cambridge and the surrounding villages. The team works with a network of local contractors, architects, designers and planners to deliver high quality housing, which generates significant and consistent returns for private investors.

“Mark and I have always found ways to cross paths in our careers and between us have watched the Cambridge market grow and evolve over the past 40 years,” said Ian. “Blues has steadily grown over almost 15 years and this is a natural next step for us to capitalise on his expertise to bring more new developments to fruition with someone who I trust and has an encyclopedic knowledge of the market.”
